Stella's Cloud Print is Pop Art

Designer Stella’s latest capsule collection has us floating on air.  Exclusive to Net-a-Porter, Stella’s exclusive collection features a graphic cloud print by Sir Peter Blake. Blake is one of Britain’s most well-known pop artists and is famous for the Beatles album sleeve for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Sir Peter Blake was paid only a pittance (£200) for the 1967 album.

Stella’s Sir Peter Blake cloud-print collection features a dress made of silk jersey. The dress takes on an ethereal summery feel with its flowing draped sleeves, a deep V-neck and a self-tie sash at waist. Other pieces include an organic cotton tee, wedge tie espadrille wedges and cloud-print tote.

Right now the pop-up shop is de rigueur when it comes to shopping - and now Stella is hopping on board too.

The designer is heading to the Hamptons to open her first ever pop-up shop at garage-turned-gallery the Fireplace Project, East Hampton. Only open for a long weekend, August 22 to 24, thevery temporary store will stock autumn/winter 2009-10 pieces as well as a selection of the resort 2010 collection.

Part of the sales will go towards helping the Pollock-Krasner House & Study Center, WWDreports.

Meanwhile back on home turf, earlier in the week, McCartney found her fragrance, Stella Nude, at the centre of a potential copyright infringement case, brought about by the wife of U2’s Bono, Ali Hewson (read about it here).

Stella McCartney will be popping in on East Hampton this weekend when she takes over the garage-turned-gallery in the Springs historic district for three fabulously fashionable days. Stella will be hosting her Spring 2010 trunk show at her short term pop-up shop within The Fireplace Project on August 22nd, 23rd and 24th. A percentage of the proceeds from the three day event will go to benefit the Pollock-Krasner House & Study Center, which is the former home and studio of artists Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner.

NEW YORK (Herald de Paris) - Stella McCartney, daughter of Sir Paul and the late Linda McCartney, dropped by Barneys on a rainy Cinco de Mayo Tuesday afternoon. After rocking Monday nights Met Gala, the designer was in high spirits to answer some questions from fans and famed Barneys Creative Director Simon Doonan at her trunk show.

I happened to accidentally crash the fun events while I was shooting Barneys’ latest display, just in time to ride the elevator with Stella to the 6th floor. A large crowd of fans and fashionistas greeted her with cheers as we got off together. Barneys Creative Director Simon Doonan sat with Stella and began asking her about everything from what it was like growing up green, “It wasn’t fashionable back then, but I’m glad people are doing something now, which better than nothing,” to if she can carry a tune, “I can’t say I’m good or bad, but I can carry a note,” and what gets her creative juices flowing, “Vodka and Tonic.”

Here are some of my favorite Q+A highlights between the fabulous fashion duo.

Simon: “What’s your fixation with the jumpsuit?”

Stella: “I wore one to the Met last night, a friend had to take me in and out of it whenever I had to go to the bathroom. But honestly, I love how effortless they are, liberating, knitted, and freeing. Last season I was all about the tailored look, for spring it’s more knitted. I love them because they take me back to my childhood and how a woman doesn’t have to think too much when you put one on. No “does this top go with this bottom moments?’”
